Dr. Sarah Otto, a zoology professor and director of the Biodiversity Research Centre is one of 22 people to receive the fellowship worth $500,000 for five years, from the John D. and Catherine T. Major Gifts

Faculty of Medicine receives largest ever gift

The $15 million gift from Vancouver philanthropist Djavad Mowafaghian is for a new facility that integrates brain research and patient care. In honour of his generosity the facility will be named the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. The gift is the latest in a long history of philanthropic efforts by Mowafaghian to advance children’s health and education around the world. Read More

Construction Continues on the New Pharmaceutical Sciences Building

Slated to open in the fall of 2012 the $133.3-million Pharmaceutical Sciences building is made possible by a $86.4-million investment by the Province of British Columbia. Built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED) gold certification standards, the six-storey, 22,871-sq.-metre building will accommodate the expansion of the faculty’s undergraduate and graduate programs and help address the shortage of pharmacists in B.C.
